Behind the Scenes With Corning® Gorilla® Armor: How the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s Screen Stays Tough and Resists Glare

In a new video, Samsung Electronics takes viewers behind the scenes to witness the technical precision and advanced engineering behind Corning® Gorilla® Armor — a scratch- and glare-resistant advanced glass developed exclusively for the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Featuring the latest example of Corning Incorporated’s innovative technology, the video captures the remarkable optics, impressive durability and next-level clarity of the display.

Corning® Gorilla® Armor is the result of an exacting process that covers the glass surface with special ions in nanometer layers — each one thinner than a human hair. The end product is a high-tech material that reduces glare by up to 75%, making the display more readable and minimizing screen reflection even in bright sunlight or harsh indoor lighting.

This process makes the glass display tough, so users of the latest Galaxy smartphone can enjoy greater protection from the everyday wear and tear that gradually damages screens over time. In Corning lab tests, Corning® Gorilla® Armor demonstrated that it was more than four times as scratch resistant as competing display glasses made from aluminosilicates.

Another detail that may interest users is the way Corning makes this extraordinary display material in an ultra-clean environment with vacuum deposition systems. It is the same technology Samsung uses to manufacture semiconductors.

For more than 50 years, Samsung and Corning have worked together to create innovative display materials. Learn more in the video below.
