The First-Ever Samsung Odyssey Cup Unites Gamers Across Southeast Asia


Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd concluded its inaugural Odyssey Cup, an esports virtual tournament that united professional gamers, influencers, and the wider gaming community in the Southeast Asia region, for exciting live broadcasts of Valorant in an influencer-fan tournament format, from November 11 to December 17.


The Odyssey Cup provided a vibrant atmosphere that united the esports community to share and celebrate their passion for gaming, featuring a diverse selection of Samsung gaming monitors. Influencers who got to try the Odyssey OLED G9 gaming monitor testified that the monitor provides exceptional visuals and speed for all casual and hardcore gamers. The Odyssey OLED G9 gaming monitor is Samsung’s first DQ OLED in curved screen of 49” with AI upscaling and incredibly fast 0.03ms gray-to-gray (GtG) response time.



 Rapid Lofi, led by FL Layla/Layla2k4 from Vietnam, earned the title of Samsung Odyssey Cup Champion. 


For the past two months, participating teams harnessed their skills and developed game strategies through rounds of playoffs, group stages and finally top three teams: Rapid Lofi, Kadiliman, and Frootielooops, gathered for an exciting grand final on December 17. Rapid Lofi emerged as overall Champions the following day. 


Influencers Afiqchii from Malaysia, Layla2k4 from Vietnam, and Notesoteric from Singapore shared that they looked forward to more Samsung tournaments, with hopes for a full-scale on-ground event next season to fully experience Samsung monitors and connect with players from other regions, in-person. 


Fans were also treated to Odyssey gaming experiences with promo codes for savings off selected models of the Odyssey monitors, released during the livestreams on the Official Samsung Odyssey Twitch Channel and KOLs’ social media channels.


Building the esports community one step at a time 


Eight influencers from Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam led handpicked teams for their respective campaigns, with each team comprising of four fans recruited by the influencers, vying to win a total prize pool of US$10,000.


Each influencer leveraged their reach to scout and recruit four members to join their team within their respective communities. The influencers played an active role in mentoring each individual to reach their utmost potential throughout the competition, helping to shape a new generation of shoutcasters, analysts, hosts, and more. They also broadcasted the games on their social platforms so that their fans and followers could also follow the action as it happened.


From November 18 to 19, Samsung Malaysia hosted four influencers’ teams – Sol8erry, Anissasyikin, Afiqchii, and Rexxy – to group stage matches at Orange Esports Café in Quill City Mall, Kuala Lumpur. Let’s see what they have said in this event! The event attracted 150 attendees, who were eager to cheer on the players while checking out the range of Samsung monitors. Attendees received Valorant points with every match played, while each influencer selected four lucky winners to redeem a Samsung Smart Monitor M5.


Notesoteric, based in Singapore, was elated to experience the thrilling e-sports atmosphere. The event, featuring notable shoutcasters from the Valorant scene, provided an exciting space for all gamers to showcase their gaming skills, within a dynamic and electrifying atmosphere. Notesoteric noted that this unique opportunity has highlighted the exciting intersection of influencer marketing and professional gaming and deepened his passion for esports. 


At the end of the tournament on December 17, one lucky winner from every country walked away with a Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 gaming monitor.
