The First Impression: The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6

The Galaxy Z Flip 6, while not drastically changing its design, introduces several significant upgrades that make it a compelling choice for those seeking a clamshell foldable phone. The phone brings you with additional built-in AI in it.

Design and Screen

Visually, the Z Flip 6 retains the familiar design of its predecessor, the Z Flip 5. The dimensions and weight remain unchanged, maintaining the sleek and compact form factor. It features a 3.4-inch 60Hz outer display and a 6.7-inch 120Hz inner panel. While the crease in the middle of the inside display is still visible, it is less noticeable compared to the Z Fold 6.

Both displays are OLED and offer vibrant visuals. However, the outer display remains at 60Hz, which can feel sluggish compared to the 120Hz inner display, a notable difference that some users might find jarring.

Despite the similar look, the Z Flip 6 incorporates a couple of welcome design changes. The glossy, fingerprint-prone sides have been replaced with a sleeker matte finish. Additionally, the metal rim around the front cameras is now color-matched to the device, providing a nice contrast. The color options have also been refreshed, with the Z Flip 6 available in silver, yellow, blue, and mint, alongside Samsung.com exclusive colors like black, white, and peach.

Samsung has ensured durability improvements as well. The Z Flip 6 uses stronger Armour Aluminium for the frame and hinge, and features Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front and back, along with an improved protective layer on the inner display. The hinge now has a dual rail design to better absorb shocks.

Performance and Specs

The Z Flip 6 includes important internal upgrades that enhance its performance significantly. For the first time, Samsung has added a vapor chamber to the Flip series, which helps keep the phone cool during intensive tasks, such as gaming. This vapor chamber is 150% larger than the one inside the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, the same high-performance chip found in the S24 series, and is available in all regions. The Z Flip 6 comes with 12GB of RAM, up from 8GB in the Z Flip 5, and offers either 256GB or 512GB of storage.

The battery capacity has also been increased to 4000mAh, matching the Galaxy S24. Charging speeds remain the same, with 25W wired charging providing a 50% charge in 30 minutes.

Camera Upgrades

The camera system has seen significant improvements. The main wide-angle sensor has been upgraded from a 12MP to a 50MP sensor, the same used in the Galaxy S24 Plus. It features a f/1.8 lens and dual-pixel autofocus. The ultra-wide sensor is now a 12MP unit that promises better low-light and HDR performance compared to the Z Flip 5.

Software and Features

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 ships with Android 14 and Samsung’s One UI 6.1.1. Samsung has committed to providing updates for an impressive seven years. The phone also includes numerous Galaxy AI features, particularly enhancing the functionality of the outer screen. More apps now support the Cover Screen, and the number of widgets has increased, allowing more tasks to be performed without opening the phone.

What’s it is Included

The Z Flip 6 package includes a USB-C charger, a user manual, and a warranty.  It comes with 4 colour choice which is Blue, Silver Shadow, Mint and Yellow. They also have online exclusive colour such as Crafted Black, White, and Peach.
